CHARLES LAUGHTON (1899- 1962 ) Laughton recieved his training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. His first American film was The old Dark House (1932). Laughton  got raves for The Devil and the Deep (1932), Then won an Oscar for The Private Life of Henry VIII (1932). My favorite is The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939). Towards the end or his body of work ,he and his wife Elsa Lanchester (Bride of Frankenstein) both got Oscar nominations for Witness for the Prosecution (1958).
