This is an enhanced life mask to honor BORIS
KARLOFF from the film FRANKENSTEIN.
This is the start Karloffs first film as the Frankenstein monster. I also
offer Karloff from The Bride of Frankenstein.
The make up varies in many ways. First the Karloff in Frankenstein is more
gaunt and the cheeks are more hollow. My father used to tell me when I
was a kid, "Son ,Karloff was so dedicated to the part of the monster that
he had all his molars removed so he would look dead". Well, after studying
the monster, I see it on Karloffs right side but not his left. (I think
perhaps he took out his bridge). In Frankenstein, Karloffs forehead is
a little higher. He has bangs and just one big clip on the left holding
in the brain. The open wound on the head is straight and smaller. The Frankenstein
eyes are a little more rolled back and the neck bolts have clips on them.
This started as an actual life mask taken from the face of Boris Karloff
in the 30s. It has been sculpturally enhanced by artist Erick
Erickson to duplicate the Make up effects
created by Jack Pierce. This creates an accurate historic display that
is very impressive. Great for a Home Theater Room.

The mask is cast in Tuf-Cal a fiber filled Gypsum cement with polymer additives.
This mask is finished in Silver Screen Silver and rubbed with an antiquing
overlay to bring out the detail. This is a huge full scale 1 to 1 cast.
The mask is ready for hanging and comes with the hardware to do it.
